CHARGE 69, leader of Logo CHARGE 69the french punk-rock scene, was formed in January 1993 with Spirou (MOLODOÏ), Laurent (ex-PKRK and SKAFERLATINE) and Caps (ex-PKRK). HistoryInfluenced by the best of the second english punk wave (U.K. SUBS, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, COCKNEY REJECTS...), they do not hesitate either to add what we call white reggae in their musicPicture CHARGE 69, and it really results in an explosive cocktail.

The first (and only) vinyl recordings of this formation appears on compilation "Le bal des Vauriens" with the song "Seul". Spirou leaves the band a few months later to devote himself more to his other band MOLODOÏ.

Jeremya then takes the guitar and Sandro the vocals. The band practices more often and plays a large number of gigs before releasing its first 4 songs EP "Patchwork" pressed by four different labels: Knock Out (Germany), Pogo Stick (U.S.A.), Bronco Bullfrog (Spain) and Combat Rock in France. Chronics in the alternative press are excellents and the public reception very enthusiastic. More than 4000 copies of "Patchwork" are sold. A record for a vinyl EP.

We will have to wait until June 95 to find a more stable band with the newcomers of Richard (guitar) and Gilles (vocals). This new group will remain stable until July 2001. Things are now going very fast: a lof of gigs in France, but also in Belgium, in Germany and even in the U.K. Picture CHARGE 69Many songs appear on foreign compilations, a split EP is released with the american BRUISERS. CHARGE 69 is then the only french band to be selected for a tribute to COCKNEY REJECTS (they will later participate in ANGELIC UPSTARTS and BLITZ tributes). The band being ready, it goes to the Black Box studio to record its first album with Ian Burgess. 15 dynamic songs, and at once one licence in Germany on KNOCK OUT, with many excellent reviews in dedicated press.

At the end of '98 is released the 4 songs single CD "Région sacrifiée" on Combat Rock (the vinyl version, wich will be released the next year on KNOCK OUT, will be sold at 1200 copies). The same CD will be released a second time on the same label, but with an unreleased song and 3 'live' tracks.

After the recording of the Picture CHARGE 69second album "Vos lois ne sont pas nos règles" (Your laws are not our rules), in July 2000, Richard leaves the band to devote himself to web sites conception. He's replaced by Yann. The band then continues to play one more year but in July 2001, Gilles and Yann leave too. Laurent takes guitar and vocals back, Caps stays on bass. Psycho Möchine takes the second guitar and Brice arrives behind the drums. The new line-up released a 4 songs CD "Même Direction" at the beginning of 2003. Audio files are available on this site.

After three albums, lots of EP's and compilations songs, and hundreds of gigs through whole Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland...), the band is now well established for the new Millemium with its new line-up, still strong, powerful and melodic.

The punk-rockers are now back on the road for new gigs and won't stop here.
The show must go on...
